The Energy Sector in Rwanda is undergoing a process of reform and a comprehensive program of renewal and expansion of electricity infrastructure is underway to ensure growth of the network to meet current and future supply requirements with a high level of reliability. The Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL) is a Subsidiary of the Rwanda Energy Group (REG) one of the Successor entities from the former EWSA. EUCL took over EWSA utility operations including the associated generation plants, transmission and distribution network and all adjoining facilities thereto.

Description, duties, responsibilities

The unit staff examines the order of the network, inspects transformer points and communal re-metering to identify and remedy noncompliance with technical specifications that may facilitate electricity theft.

Inspects and oversees the performance of contracting organizations.

Inspects the timeliness and quality of contractors’ work as well as the validity of expenditures charged to the EUCL.

Inspect and Reveal serious violations by contracting organizations that would be released, from providing further services to the company.

Investigating and preventing commercial losses from theft of inventory. For example, to verify that purchased materials are utilized properly and that their use is correctly documented.

To uncover falsification of transformer oil purchases.

All new construction should be designed and constructed to comply with the sustainable energy performance standards.

Report on contraventions or likely contraventions of any policy or procedure and reporting on any maladministration.

Maintain, review and monitor the operation of the Commercial Directorate policy to ensure that its aims and principles are given full effect;

visit regional and branch EUCL premises, in order to carry out routine tests or in response to a complaint;

Identify potential hazards, such as unsafe electrical goods or installations; etc

Requirements and Skills
