The Energy Sector in Rwanda is undergoing a process of reform and a comprehensive program of renewal and expansion of electricity infrastructure is underway to ensure growth of the network to meet current and future supply requirements with a high level of reliability. The Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL) is a Subsidiary of the Rwanda Energy Group (REG) one of the Successor entities from the former EWSA. EUCL took over EWSA utility operations including the associated generation plants, transmission and distribution network and all adjoining facilities thereto.

Description, duties, responsibilities

Deliver the maintenance plan for all electrical equipment and ancillary components of the plant

Participate in the compilation of operational and compliance with procedures and guidelines to govern routine operations, start up and black start scenarios

Implement and ensure electrical components and ancillary equipment operates efficiently to facilitate power plant at optimum efficiency, availability and safety in accordance with the requirements of the power purchase agreement, good utility practice and all applicable laws and regulations

Perform routine checks to ensure ALL primary and secondary circuitry is safe and operates according to standard.

Perform tunnel or field inspections of hydroelectric plant facilities or resources.

Lead and ensure that routine protection testing is executed

Maintain logs, reports, work requests, or other records of work performed in hydroelectric plants

Maintain or repair hydroelectric plant electrical and electronic equipment, such as motors, transformers, voltage regulators, generators, relays, battery systems, air compressors

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree (A0) in Electrical Engineering


  • At least two (02) years’ work experience in an energy maintenance planning role
