About Green Hills Academy

Green Hills Academy was established in 1997, with just 130 number of students. Today the school has grown to more than 1650 students with 56 different nationalities. Green Hills Academy is centrally located on a lush 26 acre campus in Nyarutarama, Kigali. Description, duties, responsibilities

Purpose:

The Public Relations and Communication Director works to promote good will and positive image for the school. He/she is also responsible for keeping the public informed about the school’s goals, initiatives, policies and business endeavours.

Duties:

  • Works both inside and outside the office promoting the school’s needs
  • Arrange speaking engagements, and plan and present news conferences, press conferences, meetings and conventions and fundraising initiatives
  • Write news releases, fact sheets, newsletters, bios and magazine articles
  • Develop and produce video or film projects promoting the school image
  • Create and execute an annual marketing plan
  • Arrange media for special events
  • Manage the school’s media presence including, but not limited to the website, newsletters, and Facebook page
  • Create an alumni database and communicate with them regularly keeping them informed of GHA events and activities
  • Organize alumni events to promote good relations
  • Organize parent events to promote good relations
  • Represent the school at events in the community
  • Conduct fundraising on behalf of the school by contacting alumni and corporations interested in corporate social responsibility
  • Write and follow up on grants
  • Attend school events and maintain a presence with parents and the community
  • Take photos at school events
  • Compile a monthly report tracking all data related to marketing and PR
  • Design basic marketing material
  • Assist the Admissions Director as needed

Requirements and Skills

  • Degree in communications, journalism or public relations


  • Fluent in English with strong writing skills


  • Fluent in Kinyarwanda and/or French
